WHY KATERI?

The name Kateri comes from my Confirmation name, inspired by St. Kateri OF Tekakwitha, a Catholic saint known for her deep connection with nature and her simple way of life. Her love and respect for the natural world resonated with me and reflects my own passion for creating a more sustainable approach to fashion.

This is something I want to carry through into my business, Kateri Studios. Wherever possible, I aim to work with discarded fabrics, deadstock materials and clients’ existing garments, while also reusing fastenings and components from other clothing, keeping waste to a minimum. Through Kateri, I hope to show that fashion can be creative, personal and practical while making more thoughtful choices about what we already have, even if the difference starts small.

OUR APPROACH

Wherever possible, I aim to work with existing garments, discarded fabrics, deadstock materials, and reused fastenings and components. By making use of what is already available, I hope to reduce unnecessary waste while finding new possibilities within existing garments and materials. Less waste, more possibilities.

THE FUTURE OF KATERI

Kateri Studios is more than just alterations. As the studio grows, I hope to expand into a collection of handmade goods, including bags, accessories and other pieces made from reclaimed, considered and deadstock materials.

For now, my focus is on helping you get more wear from your existing clothes and building a more thoughtful approach to fashion, one garment at a time.
